Then that is likely to be used in junction with other HD series fans. Again, think you may need the specific controller for it. Proprietary bullshit FTW!

really stupid

they dont even ship that thing to my country so i think i cannot even use rgb fans from corsair

I think i'm gonna return the fan.

Just tape the strips to your next fan! Use duct tape, and make it classy!

this is basicly the solution

i just cant get my head around corsair why they advertise stuff like this and why the hell you are missing a 10 dollar box that they only ship to the usa and canada

really corsair get your shit together this is hilariously bad and i might even return the entire thing and go with NZXT hue or something if thats about the same price and maybe works instead

I agree with you for the most part.

As far as the restricted shipping goes, it is likely due to some kind of customs/transit issue. Something inside of the part that our government taxes the snot out of, or cannot be shipped via conventional methods, due to hazmat. Who knows?

I'd give them a call on Tuesday (closed here due to the local holiday), and see if there is something that they can do to help you. I will give this to Corsair, their customer service has been awesome when I've needed them.

I also liked Corsair but the thing is they advertise it like this:

Package contents

  • 1x Lighting Node PRO
  • 4x Individually addressable RGB LED strips
  • 4x RGB LED extension cables
  • 2x HD RGB LED fan hub adapter cable
  • 1x Mini USB cable
  • 2x Mounting tape

And then you get: Customers who bought this also bought the 140mm rgb fan

what the hell is the point of those 2 fan adapter cables then if the fricking fan doesn't fit? Why can I hook up 4 individual addressable rgb led strips to one of the two slots on the lighting node pro but can't I attach the rgb fan to the other header without buying another silly black box which you cannot buy outside the usa and canada?

It just... makes no sense

So i'm thinking about returning the lighting node too and getting the NZXT Hue+ along with a single 140mm NZXT AER 140mm fan

I'm gonna research if these 2 things work together, since they are in stock in my local pc shop and are only a few bucks extra. Saves me alot of time. Normally I would prefer Corsair but this has pissed me off so bad I wouldn't mind returning it and getting the NZXT Hue+ along with the fan.

Brb gonna see if it's compatible

It is poorly worded, I'll give you that. Particularly if English isn;t your first language, I'm not sure how much of that would translate well internationally. (Not speaking for you, just thinking out-loud)

Should be able to find one of those fan hubs used on ebay, if you really wanted to make it work.

I only found them packaged with 2 or more fans, but not loose. At least not here in the Netherlands. Sure you might be able to find one at some shop in the USA that might ship it to the Netherlands, but then you also have additional costs for shipping. I think i'm gonna go for NZXT Hue+ I dont really mind much anyway, The only thing that bothers me is the controller of NZXT Hue+ seems a bit big compared to the Corsair Lighting Node one

Still havent found how to connect it and if you can just plug in an extra fan so i'm going to do that first before returning both things

Good luck, and sorry I couldn't be of more help! I could send you my fan hub, but then my case would be dark and sad...

First world problems, huh

The problem is there shouldn't be a need for a fan hub. Im packaging everything and im gonna return it and see if i can switch it for the hue+

its only 8 bucks extra compared to the lighting node pro, and i like the fan design more anyway

will report back see if it works this time

Lets see if this works out of the box or if I need to order extra boxes that dont ship to this part of the world xD

Works right out of the box, amazing, i'm happy I bought this instead. It was 8€ extra but if you also take that €10 extra fan hub corsair wanted in account it was still €2 cheaper than corsairs. I'm happy with my purchase and this issue is solved. Now I only need to spend some time to actually build it in but im happy enough it works

NZXT: 1

Corsair: 0

Both the sp120 and hd120 fans require their specific controllers to operate led's at all.  these fans use a common cathode design (three 5v pins, and one ground), as opposed to a common anode (one 12v pin, ands three ground) like pretty much every computer rgb product out there.  this is probably to keep people from using the controller with other strips or fans.

The corsair commander is required to get the sp/hd120 controllers to interface with the OS.  there is no way around this short of building your own led strips, or using an Arduino and write code to handle things.
