I want a single RGB 140mm fan for my exhaust on the back of the case but i'm a bit unsure how to do this.

I saw both an Corsair and an NZXT RGB Fan (with single addressable LED's) for about 30 bucks, but do I need a controller with these too or is there some switch on the fan that lets you change modes?

Not sure about the NZXT but for the corsair you will need a hub to control the LED's. Each fan has two connections. One for the speed (either 3 or 4 pin) and one for the RGB.

CPU - i7 8700K / Motherboard - ROG Strix Z370 E/ RAM - 32GB Cosair Vengeance DDR / GPU  - GTX 1080ti - EVGA FTW3 / PSU - Seasonic Snow Silent 750W / Cooling - Cryorig H7 Monitor - Acer X34 Predator / Sound - Corsair Void - Case - Meshify C

Thermaltake Riing Plus fans are severely cool looking if your going for that wow factor RGB (definately watch a video of them =P ), and u can get a fan controller for it that allows you to hook up not only multiple RGB fans, but you can hook up LED strips as well and a good ammount of each of them. Single fan is about 30$ as well, Not quite sure if single fans come with the controller though, so might wanna see double check or see how much it costs with it added in.

As mentioned you must have a controller to change the different colors and lighting modes.

Thanks I will look up a video of them. I ordered an individually addressable led strip not so long ago, would it maybe work together? That would be sweet. I don't really care much about it being software controlled, as long as I can do those rainbow effects. Not so long ago I installed a classic rgb led strip in my PC but it's all about single addressable leds now to create those rainbow wow effects indeed.

Why don't you buy some cheap chinese rgb fans?

These look good and cheap is always a plus for me. But one thing that worries me is sound. So I will have to see some reviews of them.

^Rebranded fans of a different model

I've ordered the fans so I'll be able to tell you first hand if they are loud.

Thanks for these. I must say I always like Corsair etc but payign €30+ for a single fan, and then I also need a controller. I know case modding is costly but that seems a little steep so I like alternatives. But are these individually addressable though?

I dont think they are individually addressable though, it seems the entire fan is just the color you pick. As far as I know the only fan that really has individually addressable leds is the Corsair HD one. Or I need to spend some more time researching this

These ones are, and they're the ones I ordered. 5 Fans + 1 controller for $50. Quite alot for the price. But no software control.

Now suddenly I might go with corsair though lol, since I learned I can get the corsair lighting node pro with 4 strips for €60. Thats alot of money, but its something that has been on my wishlist for a while now too. I feel like this is one of those things I suddenly go out for and buy this afternoon since I now got the idea in my head. Well thats the beauty about casemodding I guess. My wallet isn't gonna like it, but those strips do seem sweet.

However that still leaves me with the single 140mm fan problem. Could I plug one of those Corsair HD140 rgb fans into this lighting node pro aswell? Then it would be 90€ for the lighting node pro + a single individually addressable 140mm rgb fan. Yikes... Thats... a little over my budget. But if that would solve all lighting problems for now and for the future it might be worth the investment. Do you think the fan is compatible with the lighting node or do I also need an extra controller because the fan and lighting node strips work differently eventhough they're both Corsair's?

Yea there a reason why they're cheap. I'll be modding my fans so that I can control addressable led strips and those fans through software using a microcontroller. Maybe have them actually sync up with music for once.

I'm not sure about the lightning node pro. The lightning node pro is able to control those fans as the led strips in the software but how it hooks up I have no clue.

No. the controller is not compatible with the node.  the node is for corsair strips.  the controller for the corsair fan is for the fans only (and required to use the rgb at all).  the corsair commander will link everything together with the os.  so if you go corsair plan on another $70 on top of the other purchases to do what you want.  I would guess the strips would need to be corsair as well with proprietary connectors.  not positive on that though.  I do know the fans use a completely different wiring than most rgb stuff.  they make it very hard to go outside of corsair with any other companies rgb products.  I don't recommend corsair rgb stuff.  and I own a case with sp120s btw.  nothing but roadblocks for me to do what I want....

Hi Pohernori. Sorry in advance if I've jumped into this thread with unrelated topic but I've purchased the aigo c3 fans and would love to try modding them as you've described, so was wondering if you managed to mod them as you said... the reason I ask is I've seen a video of this done on youtube to the aigo so it must be achievable but I admit I am a novice and wouldn't want to try the mod without guidance as I don't want to kill the fans or other components... would greatly appreciate a reply and hopefully a guide on how to mod these fans. Hope to here back from you.
