Long story short, The supplied Telstra NBN Modem/Router is junk and im after something to replace it. The last one I bought said it was NBN ready but what they meant was its suitable for fiber to the premisis and not VDSL which is what I have.

As always thanks for all the help.

you should be able to bridge the VDSL modem and use any router

The VDSL modem freezes after 24-48 hours and is the main reason I'm looking to get rid of it. Not to mention the lack of configuration options.

its hard to say what will be supported, as many ISPs use non standard implementations to ensure that people purchase their hardware

usually these modem/router combos only have the issues when in router mode, and as only a modem, they might not

a Quick search found this article http://www.techradar.com/news/best-nbn-ready-modem-routers-in-australia

you should only need VDSL2 support, but depending on the nbn deployment needs, (i.e. bonded lines, etc,,,) a nbn supplied modem/router may be required
