computer sound not working! HELP!

Hi,

 

I finished a used parts build and the sound works but is incredibly soft and drowned put by a high pitch sound and crackling.My speakers register as a device in settings.

What do I do?

It sounds like you might have a problem with the connection between the speakers and the sound card. Try to clean out the dust in the sound card's output.

 

You can try to update the drivers and see if that helps, that's always a good thing to do. Also if this doesn't help can you give us a recording of the sound.

the system doesn't have a sound card because I thought there was inbuilt sound into the motherboard.

it is a ASUS p5g41t-m lx. 

 

Should i get a cheap sound card for the pc?
