No, installer on USB from Windows website. The Serial is cheap on found on eBay, that shouldn't have any effect right?

No, shouldn't affect that. Two ideas. One would be to open an elevated command prompt and run sfc /scannow. The other, would be to redownload Windows from the Microsoft site onto a fresh USB drive (just in case the drive itself is damaged and caused a problem), then run either a repair install or just a fresh, clean install. Your eBay key should still work as long as you don't change the hardware. My guess is that you'll end up doing a clean OS install, but might as well try lesser measures first.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Spoiler

Windows 10 before, I do install each driver individually, I literally had drivers i previously used on a external. This is literally twilight zone, it makes no sense. I don't want to give in and have some look at it, goes against my ethics. But this is seriously driving me mad.

What was the OS before?

Did you try installing drivers individually instead of using Asus applications for autoinstall?
