Hi I'm new to this community, so if I seem a little dense on the subject, I beg your pardon.

I've never had anything else other than a laptop, and I finally decided it's time to stop buying new computers to keep up, and instead build a beast that I can upgrade later.

I plan on having a 4k gaming computer built using the following components, and would like to hear your thoughts.

Case: Corsair Crystal Series 570X

Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero ( changed from x299 )

CPU: Intel® Core™i7-7700k (Changed from OC Intel® Core™ i7-7820X @3.6 GHz up to 4.6)

RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz (2x16)

Graphics card(s): 2xGEFORCE GTX 1080 Ti

Storage: 4TB Seagate Barracuda pro & 512 GB Western Digital M.2 NVME SSD

Power supply: Corsair 1000W RMx Series Modular 80

Cooling: Corsair H100i V2 Hydro Cooler W/ PCS Liquid Series Fans

Wireless: I would like to add a wireless adapter to the motherboard since I'm not able to get a cable connection, but I don't know how many mbps would be sufficient, etc.

So, a few questions:

1. Will this even work? As far as I've checked the components are compatible?

2. Should I keep the i7 with higher clock speed, or should I go for the i9 7900X for more cores? (ANSWERED)

3. I chose this case because it looks like it has good airflow, along with liquid cooling, as I don't want to worry about heat. Does heat look like it's gonna be an issue?

4. Should I go for the more expensive FTW3 for my graphics cards, or will it not improve performance noticeably?

Thanks! :)

i hate to be that guy and im by no means saying the cpu choice is bad but doesnt the ryzen 1600 perform very similar to it for like a 3rd of the price?

so i guess more cores if yiu need the performance, all 1080tis perform similarly so i wouldnt fork out for more expensive 1080tis

I am new too, I can give you a big tip and that is to use https://pcpartpicker.com/! Verry handy! And I don't know alot about high end stuff so cant help you with that, are you only gonna game on it, then I think you don't really need the more cores (except if the games you play can use them)

scrap the 7820X, SkylakeX is shit for gaming.

something like Ryzen or even the consumer 7700K is good for gaming.

seriously, the $200 Ryzen 5 1600 trades blows with the $650 7800X..

idk

Problem is I'm having it built, so I only have a set to choose from unfortunately.

Just see if you can get the 7700k. The PCI-E lanes don't bottleneck the 1080Ti hard at all, in some rare situations.

Alright, got the 7700k instead. Thanks man :)

But should I be worried about bottlenecking with the 7700k?
