Choice between 2 builds

Hello!

Like all of you probably know my friend wants to build a $600 PC, but everytime I ask I get new builds and now I'm stuck between two

Feel free to amend it, as long as it doesn't go over the budget of $600 +/- $15

He'll be using this for games like overwatch, minecraft, terraria, dont and starve together.

get a ryzen 5 1400 and overclock it with the stock cooler and then you can fit a better gpu

i dont know, but maybe you can find a rx 480 4gb or 8gb that fits your price range, since they got mostly replaced by the rx 5xx chips you should be able to get them for less money, the rx 480 is just a lower clocked rx 580 so you can oc it to match the 580

Yea I had 480 in mind but I think they're still inflated, let me check.

One of those probaly costs more than the entire build

Get a used 980ti and keep the 1600

Cheapest is $300, I guess thats better than before but still way over. 1060 6gb and 480 4/8gb perform similar (right) So I think I'll save the 20 and get the 1060

the micro atx mobo will be weird/hard to mount on the mid tower case. 

 

if you live near a micro center you can get a full atx mobo for like $50 iirc

also if you're getting a 1060 you definitely want the 6gb as its just $30-40ish more

Don't live near one, and my build has mATX in ATX case and it wasn't hard

if his intentions are mostly gaming, you should get the r3 1200, it has extremely similar single and quad-core performance to the r5 1600

try this build out, you can get a cheaper 1060 6gb by looking around at reddit.com/r/buildapcsales for a while and then choosing a case that you want. fractal design is a pretty reliable brand though.

If you don't care for my build do note that Ryzen benefits from having more sticks of ram rather than one, so go for a dual channel kit if you can.
