Don't get a blower style card, get a Seasonic M12II instead, and maybe throw in an SSD if you can.

Get a non blower style card, cheaper sata SSD, why 8GB of ram in a $1300 build?! Get 8x2GB instead, but if you cant afford it get 8x1GB, also try getting the cxm 550 just for some headroom. Also you dont need an extra cpu cooler, r5 1600 already comes with a good one.

A lot of people are reporting issues with MSI boards. I prefer Gigabyte myself for the UK warranty support (Assuming you are in the UK)

The stock wraith cooler is pretty decent if you want to save a bit on the cooler.

I would try and aim for 16GB Ram.

As above try and get a non reference gpu. The blower type run hotter/louder.

The Corsair psu is fine. Maybe go with 550W though.

The Intel 600p isn't that great tbh. I would rather have a Samsung 850 EVO, Crucial MX300 or SK Hynix etc.

What monitor are you going to be using ?

A build with a 1080 shouldn't have 8gb.

If he is just gaming 8GB is enough. I wouldn't sacrifice on something else to get more ram.

16gb is becoming the norm, I would strongly suggest spending the extra 50 for 16gb.

If it's strictly for gaming he doesn't need it. However if he is going other things then yes he probably needs it

I still strongly suggest 16gb. Its a high end build why would he skimp on the ram?
