I am attemtping to install windows 10 and I receive the following error message directly after "copying files" completes:

File: \windows\System32\drivers\tcpip.sys

The operating system couldn't be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.

My hardware is as follows (if more required please feel free to ask):

> Asus sabertooth 990fx mobo
> FX8350 CPU
> XFX RX480 GPU
> Kingston HyperX Predator m.2 pcie g2 x4 solid state drive 240GB

I am attempting to install via a usb drive which I purchased and payed almost $200 for specifically to avoid problems like this...lot of good that did.

Before install I used dban to wipe windows 7 from the drive to prevent any conflicts.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure how to proceed at this point. :(

If you can get to a command prompt via Startup Repair try this:

Trouble Shoot -> Advanced Options -> Command Prompt

CMD> bootrec /scanos

CMD> bootrec /rebuildbcd

CMD> bootrec /fixmbr

CMD> bootrec /fixboot

Reboot.

Can you show us what appears under the part of the installation where you choose the drives?

I'm afraid it doesn't get that far. I insert the windows 10 usb drive, power on the pc, go into my boot menu and select the drive, a screen appears and says copying files, then once it completes I receive the screenshot in my original post. For a brief moment (half a second or less) the windows 10 icon will display before showing that screenshot.

Hm I would stick the drive in another computer and reformat it.

I edit my posts a lot.

I bought the drive pre-loaded with windows 10, and don't have an iso to reformat it with. I suppose I could find one though. I may try putting the drive in another pc and seeing if I can get past that error. That would tell me it's something with my machine and not the drive.

Where did you buy this preloaded drive? I would reinstall and use your licence key from the retail package as mentioned. You might have an install disc or might need to burn a new one on another pc.

I purchased it off of newegg: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832588529&cm_re=windows_10_thumb_drive-_-32-588-529-_-Product

I have confirmed it is the usb drive. I attempted the install in another machine, and it had the same issue. Does anyone have a link to where I can download windows 10 pro 64bit iso? Like a legit link? I've been stumbling around the micro$oft site, but sh!ts confusing.

Awesome :)
Now you only need to mod it for NVMe booting to work properly.
Here's a guide for that : LINK.
I assume, you are running EFI startup and GPT drive ?

Can you explain to me why I would need to do this if the drive didn't work in either motherboard? One UEFI and one Non-UEFI. I have also installed windows 7 on the machine in question via usb twice in the past.

Not sure what "EFI startup and GPT drive" are?

NVMe drive boot requires EFI booting to work.
EFI booting for Windows works only on GPT drives.

NVMe for non-UEFI motherboards :
If Motherboard doesn't have UEFI BIOS, you need 3-rd party software (Clover/DUET) to bypass this limitation (with few other bits and bobs).

NVMe for UEFI boards before Z97 :
UEFI BIOS doesn't have a nvmexpress booting code inside, which enables seeing NVMe as bootable drive under EFI mode.
Without it, even IF you install Windows, you will not have a disk available to boot from (it simply won't be available in booting options).

You can use WIndows 7 because it works by default on Legacy mode.
Windows 8/8.1/10 can use EFI booting or UEFI-CSM as default (depending on UEFI/BIOS boot settings).
They do support Legacy booting as well.

EFI booting example :

"Windows Boot Manager" is a option you should pick instead of Windows bootable GPT drive.

CPU : Core i7 6950X @ 4.26 GHz + Hydronaut + TRVX + 2x Delta 38mm PWM
