I have an external SSD hooked up to my Nvidia Shield TV and I need to keep the SSD running continuously. Will it be bad for it since it has no moving parts? It is running around 85 degrees Fahrenheit. If I cut it off and start it up before I start the shield it doesn't show up as a storage drive and then I have to unplug the power to the shield for the SSD to show up right.

i guess since the controller is running but it isn't as bad as you think

doesn't really matter, the flash will wear out much faster than when the controller dies from being on

also what is a fahrenheit lol

Just now, Dujith said:

Its a temperature scale which is used in about 5 countries, US being one.

Converted its about 29,5 Celsius, which is room temperature so its perfectly fine @mcc1961

this has been the first time ive seen someone use fahrenheit for temperatures for anything computer related.
