So I recently bought a GTX 1050 ti Sc but, I soon found out that it doesn't work on my pre built Lenovo H50-50. So now I'm not sure if I should make an entirely new computer or sell the card my friend offered it to me for $80 but I bought it for $150 and I haven't even used the card so it might be too little. Anyways, I was thinking that I could use my current 1 tb hard drive (If I format it can I still use windows?) and 8 gb of ram. Also, I'm not sure if I could re use my Intel core i3 but if not I'm fine with getting a new one too if I can't transfer a processor. Anyways, my question is what other parts should I get other than the hard drive, ram, monitor, and graphics card for a new gaming computer. (Preferably new parts under $500) Thank you! (By the way this is my first time fully putting together a computer.)

You have a few options, first It would help to know what exact CPU you have in the system, there are many different i3s and many different models of Lenovo H50-50. Can you right click on "This PC" in windows 10 or "My Computer" in Windows 7 and click on properties. In the window that opens, it should tell you what processor you have.

How did you determine that the GTX 1050 Ti would not work in the Lenovo?

Well I tried to use it and then found out (http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo Desktops/Lenovo H50/Lenovo H50 Tower.pdf) That it can only use a handful of cards not including the GTX 1050 ti

Looks like that is just the different configurations of the PC. Just put the card into the PC, plug in the display cable into the card, and boot

:)

The issue may be too small a psu. A quick calculation of the likely configuration suggests that about 230W is needed. So if you have the 180W model that would account for the card not working.

Otherwise you may need to alter a BIOS setting to have the system find and use a discreet gpu.

The fact that the GTX 1050 TI is not listed is due to the age of the publication.
