Hi everyone

I've been thinking about getting a 3D printer but I have no idea what to get. I have a budget of around 1000Euro. One thing I'm looking for is value, if it need be I can increase the budget. In addition to that is fillament printer specific or universal? If it is printer specific can you look out for a printer with reasonable fillament prices? The machine should be able to work with PLA and ABS, any more materials would be great :)

Shoot any questions my way!

Thank you very much in advance :)

Prusa i3 Mk2s. Should be about 600-700 euros and it's just about the best desktop 3d printer money can buy. Other than that, I'd recommend the Ultimaker 2 or A lulzbot, but those are a little out of your budget.

How about the Ultimaker original? Is it any good? I dig the DIY aspect of it :)

As long as you get the right size (1.75mm or 2.85/3mm) and your hotend can get hot enough (260c is more than enough for most materials) then yes.

I have an Ultimaker Original, but you really need the heated bed upgrade. Also the extruder on mine doesn't work very well, but I've managed over the years. As for the build, Ultimaker's instructions are very detailed and easy to follow once you find them, and the build took me about 11 hours.

Sounds good! How does it compare to the Prusa i3 mk2?

The i3 has more quality of life features such as auto bed leveling which makes it a great first printer. @TheGhzGuycan go into more depth.
