So I was putting together my parts list for my first PC and I was hearing stuff about fan splitters and PCIEs cables or something like that. Can someone explain what they are and waht they're used for please. Any help would be appreciated :)

Fan splitters are used to take one of your motherboard's fan headers to power two fans. You typically will use this if you have more fans in your case than your motherboard has fan headers, or you just want better cable management. As for PCIe cables, these are connectors from your power supply that provide power to PCIe components such as graphics cards.

Ok thanks, also how do I know how many fan headers my motherboard has? This is the motherboard I'll be using: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero

It's got at least 8 4-pin PWM fan headers, plus an extra 3 through an extension module provided with the board.

In general and specifically for Asus go to the motherboard web page, Specification tab, https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-MAXIMUS-IX-HERO/specifications/. For Asus motherboards, go to the Internal I/O Ports section. Go through the list.

The Maximus IX Hero has two cpu fan headers, 3 chassis fan headers, (an AIO pump header, a water pump header), and a high amperage fan header, all 4-pin. In addition there is a 5-pin header for an add-on Asus fan extension card - https://www.asus.com/Motherboard-Accessory/FAN-EXTENSION-CARD/.

This and more information can also be found in the User Manual.

Thanks so much, that was a lot of help but if I have 4 maybe 5 silent fans and 2 high static pressure fans for the radiator, so I would need to use a fan splitter, and also what's a cpu fan header and can I use cpu fan header or chassis fan header for everthing fans. I know I'm asking a lot but you really helped so far :D

If you are using an AIO cpu cooler the radiator fans typically plug into the pump (which is usually part of the cpu block). You have a lot of options for controlling fans. Without knowing the model of cpu cooler it's tough to suggest a fan layout. But I suspect the motherboard has more than enough fan headers for your needs.

If more fan headers are needed you might try finding an Asus fan extension card. The card supports 3 additional fans and 3 additional thermal sensors. Unfortunately it is not an easy part to locate.

Ok thanks, helps a lot and btw my pump is the EK-XTOP Revo D5 PWM - Plexi (incl. sleeved pump) Incase you know what I can do

At a guess the unit's PWM connector would use the Water pump header. The radiator fans could then use the cpu fan headers. But I would suggest that you ask the question in the Liquid and Exotic Cooling section.
