Hey everyone, I recently had my Asus mobo crap out on me and I am replacing it as Asus says the damage isn't covered by warranty. Is there anything I need to know if I want to replace it with a different motherboard? Anything specific I need to do or can I just basically build from scratch with all my other components?

I am not sure but I heard that windows checks the serial number of all your components to prevent file pirating. The windows key is locked to the motherboard you registered it with, and replacing it should make you have to re-activate the code.

Could I just contact microsoft to have this changed? The motherboard will literally not work as is and I have to replace it.
