Un-kinking braided cables

So, I recently bought both a keyboard and mouse with a braided cable. That's all well and good, but both manufacturers, in their eternal wisdom, packed the cables looped back upon themselves, despite there being plenty of room in the boxes for the cables to be coiled. As a result of this, both cables are severely kinked. I've tried hanging the mouse overnight by the cord, and that did help, but I'm wondering if any of you have a go-to solution for un-kinking braided cables (especially the keyboard cable - I'm not hanging a mechanical keyboard by it's cable from a lamp overnight).

Screwdriver specs: Long, pointy. Turns things. Some kind of metal.

Maybe do the opposite?

hang the cable down and leave the keyboard up (not hanging)?
