Hi guys,

when I installed windows and all programs on my ssd I decided to download CCleaner, but yesterday I read that it is bad for ssd's lifespan. I pressed run ccleaner about 10 times and 2 times on the recycle bin. Did I done something wrong and should I uninstall CCleaner and download it on HDD and then run it in HDD.

I don't believe CCleaner will harm your SSD at all. But it's unnecessary to run the cleaning process more than once at a time.

Using defrag tools like Windows' Disk Cleanup, or Defraggler (also made by Piriform) will definitely shorten the lifespan of your SSD and should never be done.

It won't damage it. If you select settings that cannot run on an SSD, they simply won't do anything.

Nowadays even that won't shorten the lifespan of your drive significantly as long as you have a newish SSD that isn't the most bargain bin garbage. The write warranty lifespan of an 250GB 850 Evo for example is like 300 Total Drive Writes, and unless your drive has a miniscule amount of free space, it shouldn't even be doing a single drive write for a defrag.

That being said, it's also kind of pointless since it won't improve your performance in any way, instead just likely hampering performance on big sequential files, but it's not like it'll kill your drive.

Same as using your SSD as swap. It used to be a big no-no, but nowadays there's not a big issue with it.
