Hello guys once agian..

(Msi Rx 580 8GB+)

So i have the problem or better said im unable to Overclock my graphics card, if i try everything freezes and crashes (sometimes the whole pc).

I first used the Gaming APP from Msi with the overclock thingy just for testing and i saw that the clockspeed stayed the same.

If i want to use Msi afterburner i cant change anything or when it does it crashes..

HELP

Hi,

do you know what driver version you're currently on for your graphics cards, there are quite a few AMD drivers that have messed up overclocking before, so if you can tell me, I can help you out. :)

im on 17.7.2 latest one..

what does that mean?

cards are not guaranteed to be overclockable how high a card can be overclocked is determined by random some gpus will overclock better than others due to differences in the gpu die. this is know as the silicon lottery since its random

At least on r9 290 that one broke overclocking with 3rd party tools. Have you tried AMDs own Wattman?

CPU: Intel i7 3970X @ 4.7 GHz  (custom loop)   RAM: Kingston 1866 MHz 32GB DDR3   GPU(s): 2x Gigabyte R9 290OC (custom loop)   Motherboard: Asus P9X79

Case: Fractal Design R3    Cooling loop:  360 mm + 480 mm + 1080 mm,  tripple 5D Vario pump   Storage: 500 GB + 240 GB + 120 GB SSD,  Seagate 4 TB HDD

PSU: Corsair AX860i   Display(s): Asus PB278Q,  Asus VE247H   Input: QPad 5K,  Logitech G710+    Sound: uDAC3 + Philips Fidelio x2

are you upping the voltage?  Don't do this without understanding the risks, I would suggest reading up on overclocking before proceeding.

tried to didnt work as well and im getting imense FPS drops in any game on low settings...

I use Sapphire Trixx to overclock my RX480, I can get an additional 134mhz out of it with +78mV vcore.  But I did do fairly well in the silicone lottery on that card.
