Gigabit Connection

I use an old computer I have as a NAS to offload files, like footage from  past YouTube videos etc. The server is connected to a gigabit switch, that is connected to a pair of gigabit power-lines, that connect to another gigabit switch, that THEN connect to my computer's gigabit Ethernet port. Even though I get much better speeds than I used to, (used to be about 5MB/s, now it's 15-20MB/s) it's still not gigabit. 

All the cables are Cat. 5e, checked. NAS hard drive is 7200rpm with write speeds over 120MB/s. Memory and CPU not maxing out when transferring. As it is usually advised, I tried transferring large files, because that's when it gives its "best", and that's usually the case, large video files (not 8K RED RAW, but you know ).

What else can I do to test it? Any help would be much appreciated.

When in doubt, blame the Powerline Ethernet.

I agree, temporary bring the NAS and you computer together so you can plug them in the same switch and try the transfer again.
