Steam Compatibility issue..

Go to solution Solved by JAKEBAB,

Win 7 64-bit

quick google search here this should do the trick: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1894409 i suggest doing the second option instead of deleting steam if u have a tone of games

Not sure if I should ask this here but I can't find any steam support articles.

When in the steam properties, I'm set to compatibility for windows vista. I'm locked to it because the drop-down and checkbox are disabled. Whenever I launch Big Picture I get an error, and GTA IV won't launch. GTA says I need SP1 to run on Vista, because steam is in vista compatibility mode. How do I disable compatibility or get GTA to work? Otherwise it's a waste of $10... Thanks.

1: Exit steam

2: Open the properties for the steam.exe

3: Go in the compatibility tab

4: Uncheck all compatibility boxes

5: Apply

6: Right click run as admin (just to be sure, otherwise you can disregard this step)

7: Try launching the game again

Hope this helps,

No the problem is the windows compatibility checkbox is disabled, so I can't disable Vista compatibility. It's locked to that.

Deleting those registry files fixed the compatibility issue, but GTA IV still doesn't launch. It has no error code this time. I'll mark this as solved and look elsewhere.
