Hey Guys,

I am thinking about throwing together a basic PC. My younger brother built one a few years ago. We are not heavy gamers but do enjoy the casual gaming session every so often. Here are the details of his set up.

 ASRock z75Pro3 Mother Board

i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz

8GB RAM

GTX 750ti

It is a great system for us and has still does great for what we use it for.

Now during the process of making his he ordered one extra  ASRock z75Pro3 mother board. I have been tempted to use it as it is another component that I don't have to pay for. I looked for the same CPU on ebay and found I could get one for as low as $55. For a graphics card I think I would be willing to invest in one that is a bit better than the one we have now. I think that is the current bottle neck of the system, not the CPU.

I have two main questions for you guys,

Is it even worth using this mother board? It is certainly on the older side of the spectrum. Personally I am of the opinion that yes, for what I do it will be just fine, and also considering that I am on a tight budget it is even better. But are there other directions that you guys think may be good?

Secondly, should I get the same CPU? or could I get away with less powerful one? I have heard that the i5-3470 is pretty capable and all you really need (Or at least a year ago that was the case).

Many thanks for any help really appreciate it.

Are you just going to use it for basic use? (Email, videos, storing photos, ect.).

Ya initially, I think I would just have it for basic use. Then at some point when i have the cash possibly get a graphics card that would have the horse power to play some moderately intense games.

Intensive games? Well a GTX 1050 Ti would be very good.
