RAM compatibility

[Infestation]

I am looking at G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3000 for the asrock x370 killer Motherboard. The memory is not listed within the memory QVL. I just wanted to make sure that the ram would be compatible and work fine with the motherboard. I am planning on use the R5 1600 CPU. Thanks for your time.

not true, it is not supported so it would be a gamble.

 

OP only go for ram that is on the list, anything else would be a gamble.

no it's not about a supported list. it's not a gamble, even if the motherboard manufacturers didn't do the testing other people did and posted their results online. THIS RAM WILL WORK.

show me other people testing this ram, this exact model, not just a ram kit that looks like it, because that means jack shit

That ram is Hynix m-die, so It would be a gamble at best to as to whether it will run at 3000 MHz. It will almost certainly work at 2133MHz though, just not guaranteed at 3000MHz.

@SquintyG33Rs Do you have evidence to support your claim that it works?

i'm pretty sure the Samsung b die preference is not a thing anymore with agesa 1.0.0.6 update having been pushed accros all boards the memory controller still favours some timings over others but it's more a question of not buying super cheap ram that runs at cl18 at 2133 (yes those exist) which only boots half the time and sometimes not at all on ryzen.

Sure, but I have still seen people on r/AMD havbing trouble hitting 3000MHz on non b-die memory. Do you have any direct evidence that this kit specifically will be able to run at 3000MHz on this board?

allot of people forget to check for bios updates and most automatic utilities don't actually detect when it has an update. I have a ripjaws V kit that's rated at 2133 CL14 that i brought to 3000 by manually entering the timings of the 3000 kit on an MSI b350 mortar board with latest bios. so i don't have that kit. i have a worst one that performs like this one should.
