Posted July 22, 2017 I have a xeon x3430 (2.4ghz, 4 core) ready to go, but will it be enough to run a few streams at once? I imagine it would, or should i step up and buy a new system with slightly more powerful specs? Posted July 22, 2017 Depends on what you need. If you want a file server, go with a Pentium of recent years. If you want transcoding support for Plex or whatever else, go with a quad-core. X3430 is a good all-round choice. Posted July 22, 2017 Just now, radmanhs said: alright, cool, its just going to be for a media server, so mostly transcoding You could convert your files that your plex can direct play or direct stream it, it will allow more stream at the same time and less stress on CPU. Magical Pineapples
