I would like to install the os on my pc and i've tried pressing f7 but i cant seem to get it to boot. Am i doing it wrong? If i am could someone please tell me how to.

@Thephantom03 Read NinJake's response. He forgot to tag, or quote you.

For future reference, your motherboard make and model are more useful in this case, than your CPU and GPU info.

Try spamming the delete key. On most motherboards this will get you into the bios.

Check your notifications tab (the little bell symbol) to see if anyone has responded to your question.

If trying to alert a poster that you have responded, use a tag as I did above, or use the quote feature so they will be notified that you responded.

Best Excuses:

        #1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

        #2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

please provide system specifications so we can help you better than just blindlyguessing what other hardware you have ;)  in this case it can help us figure out exactly how to access the bios.

also, did you buy an original Windows 10 USB?

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?

Hi, we could tell you're 14 because your username ends in 03.

That aside, what motherboard do you have? It's normally f8 or f9 to access what to boot. f10, f2, or del are normally for actually accessing your bios/uefi.

A z170-a

When you spam the "del" key and get into the bios/uefi, do you see the bootable media? Sadly, as I experiment with lots of live linux USBs, they have a tendency to fail as a "bootable drive" but still hold and transfer data. So it may be that the USB simply isn't recognized as a "boot drive".

try resetting your bios.. it should stop the boot and give you the option to enter bios

And how do you do it?

check your motherboards manual. its best to learn it yourself so you can fix it in the future

The problem is that i dont get into the bios, even though i spammed delete. Maybe i spammed it for too short. Any idea of how long you have to spam it?

1) Ensure keyboard is plugged in

        -if it's a newer keyboard... drivers might not be installed, if you have old keyboards try those too

2) Press power button on PC

3) Click Del key as fast as you can, or at least twice a second until you get into the bios. If that doesn't work, try again using F2.

If you can't get into the bios at all, then it's most likely your keyboard inputs aren't being recognized by the PC.

it could be something like fastboot is activated.. resetting the bios should produce the "press f1 to enter setup" or similar failsafe message.

@NinJake Sorry, I wasn't aware of that.

@Thephantom03 Sorry, I wasn't aware of that.

I think perhaps I should just mind my own biz from now on. What's the saying about "It's better to be silent and let people think your a fool, than open your mouth and......"
