Wifi Stopped Working

JacobDuncan00

Hello,

I recently installed windows 7 and after many hours was able to install my wifi driver. I used it all of yesterday without a problem and when I turned on my pc this morning it seemed to work fine however the wifi would cut off and then turn back on within a few seconds. I didn’t think much of it until just now my wifi is not recognized anymore and when I go into device manager to see if my wlan driver is working, it’s no where to be found.

Is the wifi card integrated in the MOBO?

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

I’ve tried to install the cd driver with the motherboard and that doesn’t give me a wifi driver only a lan driver.

It shows that this is how I get my wifi but I do not have a USB adapter or anything like that so the wifi card or whatever it is has to be internal.

Tried hard resetting your pc? Or try to reinstall the wifi drivers. Which MOBO do you have?

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

How do you hard reset your pc ?

Hold the power button down on your PC till it turns off

Pull the mains cable out the socket

Hold the power button down and count to 30 (PSU will discharge any static)

Connect PC back to mains power

Power on PC

Select "Start Windows Normally" if it asks during boot up.

!!! Only try the following if your PC has Ethernet (Network cable connection) or you have access to the Wi-Fi Drivers (CD or another PC with USB Stick). !!!

In Device Manager
Right-Click the Wi-Fi card

Select Uninstall
Tick "Delete the driver software for this device."

Click OK

Wait for Uninstall to complete

Reboot

Log back into Windows and Open Device Manager.

Select Action Menu

Select Scan for Hardware Changes

It should then detect the Wi-Fi Card.

> If you have Ethernet - Windows Update should find the drivers

> If you have no internet - Use another PC to download the drivers and transfer the files using a USB Drive.

I have the driver files but I don’t have like an installation for the driver. I have access to Ethernet.

The reason I got the driver working in the first place was because I’m device manager it showed a 802.11 n wLaN driver that wasn’t working. I took my files from my wifi driver that I found on the internet and searched the folder with those files in it and it installed the driver. This time when I go into device manager I only see my Ethernet driver and Bluetooth driver, my wlan driver doesn’t even show up even when I scan for new hardware

I don’t know what to do because I do not have an .exe or setup for the wlan driver that I need. I found it off of drivertalent and took the .zip file and extracted it and put it into a file and updated the 802.11 n WLAN driver that wasn’t working and it installed

Do you want to try this...

Download devcon.zip

https://mega.nz/#!KtwHxSpQ!ywXExYpvBH23tD159Q7aF-8TkFAlty_ZbqxLXKHAJbM

Extract the file (devcon.exe) to your Desktop.

Hold Shift and Right Click on your Desktop

Select "Open Command Window Here"

type devcon.exe rescan

This might find the Wi-Fi card for you.

Each of these Products also has a Support Tab and on the right side of the page there is a list of driver downloads:
https://www.startech.com/uk/Search?search_term=1T1R

Maybe one of the PCI cards will match the one in your system.

Did you open CMD (Command Prompt) and type:
devcon.exe rescan
