Most synthetic stress tests won't give you the whole picture. To be sure an OC is successful try performing some everyday tasks and games. I've seen it before where a system stress test isn't too stressful and then the system dies when trying to do anything other then a stress test. Prime95 or AIDA64 are good programs but the best way to tell if to fire up some of your games and then see how long it lasts. If your system wont boot because of an OC then pop the CMOS battery out for 5-10 mins and then try again. Its also normal for a computer to turn off after you have applied an OC, but only once. apply->off->wait->boot into your OS. 

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
