Posted July 18, 2017 Hello guys ! In few months i will be going to univercity, and im here to ask a question is it a good idea to get rid of my not best gaming PC and switch over fully to a gaming laptop. Why ? I know I will need any kind of laptop anyway, but im not sure if getting a mid range notebook and maybe upgrading my pc is a good idea, maybe i should invest in one good system ? It would also be easier with file managment. I live a very mobile kind of live, non stop driving a car, im all over the place, having my computer with me would make my life easeier i think. Especially that lately i realised that i don't have even time at home to turn my pc on and play a game, but having the option of being mobile would change things a bit. I was looking for a machine with 1070 16GB ram, 128 or 250 GB SSD, 1 or 2TB hdd, 17", and a (very)good battery life, and not the worst build quality, due to a fact that would have it with me every day. 1.Do you think that's a good idea ? 2.And what laptops would you recommend ? Posted July 18, 2017 Hey I am also in university, in a dorm soon. I have a desktop PC and a semi crap/decent laptop that I take with me on the go It serves me perfectly well and despite not being the lightest laptop out there it is still doing great. I am a programming major. So I code a lot, but also the program that I use are mainly text based and text editor so not that demanding. Also the university I am in has really good workstation PC at the library so I can also use that. Posted July 18, 2017 the real problem with a gaming laptop is that you can't upgrade them, meaning they will become outdated much faster than a pc. for your notebook, this wouldn't matter as it is only handling very light tasks anyway Current Specs: Intel Core i7 6700k RTX 3060ti 32gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 3000MHz DDR4 Asus Z170 Pro Gaming ATX Corsair RM850x PSU Corsair H55 1TB Seagate SSHD 4TB Seagate Barracuda 500GB Hitachi HDD 256GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2 BeQuiet Silent Base 800 --------- Corsair M65 Pro RGB Corsair K70 Lux RGB Roccat Taito Xbone Controller Logitec Z333 Samsung SyncMaster SA10 LG Ultrawide 25" Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/809211-gamingworking-laptop/#findComment-10161023 Share on other sites
