I'm an Idiot Rant

I am very frustrated today and thought id vent. I have an HP laptop that i really like. i got the model that was 1 step lower than the top spec model. The difference was the top spec had an M.2 drive. i got a really good deal so it made mroe sense to not get that moidel. now 1 year into the life cycle of the laptop i thought i would buy an ssd for the laptop. after much research and scouring the manual it appeared the laptop would have an M.2 slot as it is the only difference between the two. 

Here is even the picture in the manual and instructions for installing an M.2 drive:

 

so today my M.2 drive is arriving from amazon so in preparation i disassembled the laptop (which was quite the process hence why i didnt do it previously) only to find that while the motherboard saughter points and screw holes on the exist, the actual port isnt. so the computer is fully capable of it and designed to have it, but they deliberately didnt allow an upgrade.

 

i know this is my fault for not opening the computer prior to purchasing the drive. i also wont be losing any money on the drive as i can just return it. doesnt change that i am very upset about all of this.

 

TLDR: dont trust HP manuals

Also this manual is for removing one not necessarily installing one, probably a different manual...

this is the product page for my laptop. the manual is the same for this entire series of laptops. the difference across all of them is processor, ram, ssd/hdd. the body is the same across all of them.

No offence but it isnt hps fault you cant do research before u buy and before u open it up.

didnt blame HP. literally said at the bottom of my post i shouldve done more research and opened the computer
