Phanteks Evolv ATX Mod

I bought my Evolv ATX case towards the end of summer last year and have since moved houses (refrigerated air is nice). So this is really my first summer with this build. All winter long I was getting good temps but as soon as summer hit I wasn't happy with the change. 

 

I rearranged some fans and did some fan curve tweaking but my temps were still high. I didn't watch any reviews of the Evolv before buying it and decided to check out a few on YT. That's when I realized the top panel restricts exhaust and could recirculate the warm air inside the case. That's when I decided to mod my case for an exhaust cut out on the top. 

 

 

tl;dr Evolv has crap airflow wanted to cut a hole in the top. 

 

Here is the design I printed out. I figured with the holes printed and a hole punch I could keep the drill holes lined up. First case mod mistake. 

 

 

This is the terrible result. 

 

 

At this point I needed a different approach. I needed some sort of bezel to cover my work since Im awful at aesthetics. I contacted my friend who I play online games with. He machined me a honeycomb bezel and it turned out great.

 

These shots are the first pictures of it attached to the case. I taped it on the case, measured, marked, and cut out the center. After these pictures were taken I straighened out the metal, lined the bottom side with double sided sticky tape and applied black mesh to the underside. 

 

 

In the end it could be better but I'm happy with the result. Aesthetics aside temperatures dropped about 10C at load.

When I was done and held it away I realized I made a mistake. It looked awful lol.  In my defense Phanteks made a hell of a sturdy case. It's thick metal on top.

Yea, I did some googling and found it myself about a month ago. its on order expected to ship around the 26th of this month. I have the top off my case right now to provide good ventilation for my Radiator with my loop. Your mod looks decent now with that you fixed it up a bit.
