Hi,

I'm about to upgrade my current build and get Ryzen 5-based desktop with 32GB of RAM for video editing. I estimated the price at around $500 since I'm keeping my hard drives, case, PSU, and fans. However, I'm going to travel for vacations once or twice a year. That should be around 30 days per year, even though it's not the healthiest lifestyle I need to be productive at this time. Therefore I also need a laptop, and even though it's not super powerful, that would allow me to produce say one 3-minute long 1080p video per day with After Effects. I'm not sure how much to spend on this but I can see that the very cheapest options cost at least $500-600.

1) Do you have cheaper suggestion?

2) Would it be a good idea to invest a bit more and buy just one laptop that would be used with external peripherals at home? Can I get a decent laptop at $1000-$1200 delivering performances similar to Ryzen?

Thanks

EDIT: I got my answer for the 2nd question. Even the highest-end Razer Blade Pro's i7 can't catch up with a $200-250 Ryzen 5 : http://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cpu-amd_ryzen_5_1500-709-vs-intel_core_i7_7820hk-693
