Hey guys,

I bought the Acer Predator XB281HK about a month back after some of you recommending it here.

But now i'm a bit curious to try new things with this. G-Sync is working perfectly in games and i couldn't be happier about it. But it doesn't seem to work for anything other than that. I notice a lot of screen tearing with YouTube videos so i wanted to see if it's possible to have G-Sync turned on system wide.

I'm not really sure if there's a better way to do this, but since setting the refresh rate to less than the display spec (59Hz) turns on G-Sync in Overwatch, i'm wondering if setting the refresh rate to 59 in the Nvidia Control Panel will get G-Sync working. And if that'll break my display in any way?

Thank you!

I dont think Gsync kicks in during browsing. Could the tearing YT vids caused by the refresh rate in desktop screen not set correctly?

I'm not really sure about this. I think what i'm trying to do with the nvidia settings is similar to this. Unless there's a more obvious setting i'm missing?

The setting I'm talking about is inside Windows settings, within the display/monitor tab. You have to click the "graphics card properties" or "display properties" (not sure what it's called in English. Not the language I have in the OS) to see it.

there's a setting in the Nvidia control panel that lets you select when G-sync kicks in. There's a fullscreen application only option and a desktop (or something like that) option.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

yeah, select fullscreen and windowed applications under the gsync settings in nvidia control center and I think it'll fix it. However, I am curious if your experiment worked. I don't think it'll mess your display. If the display doesn't like it, it should just kick out an error if it doesn't work and you can wait for the timer that says something to the effect of  will apply in ___ seconds... to run out or restart your PC.

I have that set to "Enable G-SYNC for windowed and full screen mode" But that doesn't seem to do anything different from the other option.

I tried it just now but unfortunately Nvidia control panel doesn't let me get past the testing. I tried a bunch of refresh rates as well from 50 to 59 in default res through DP. But it doesn't let me change it.. :(

huh. Maybe try using a tool like CRU (Custom Resolution Utility). I've never used it much so you'll have to figure out how to use it somewhere else but you should be able to create a custom resolution with 59hz refresh rate and apply it through Windows Display Adaptor.
