GTX970 waterblock compatibility

Are custom waterblocks for the GTX970 compatible the newer card? My card had a reference pcb design.

Is waterblock being compatible with other generation of card commom?

Yes, I want to see if I can reuse the block when I change gpu

You will not be able to use the water block again because the positions of the components on the board changes and so does the heights
