Hey guys, so I'm having this issue where I can't get a steady 60fps on BF1 and well I don't have a bad PC I think.

My specs are as follows

CPU: i5 7500

GPU: GTX 1060 3GB

RAM: 8GB DDR4 (2x4GB)

MOBO: Asus B250m-A

PSU: 500watt Corsair

that's pretty much the important stuff, point is that BF1 just isn't running well, I had NZXT Cam Software running in the back and I was seeing that the CPU was almost constantly at 100% usage with the GPU sitting at around 70-80% usage, I understand that BF1 is CPU intensive but that's a bit ridiculous.

I have another PC with an i7 6700k and well the game doesn't stutter nor drop below 60 whatsoever, though that one does have 16GB of DDR4 RAM  instead of 8GB.

I'm not understanding what's going on TBH, the only thing I could think of is that the CPU could be Thermal Throttling but it doesn't go past 70c and that's with the stock intel CPU cooler, plus I also have like 4 more fans in there, 2 as intake and 2 as exhaust and the PSU is also acting as an exhaust fan, I'm just not quite understanding what's going on here. The RAM is placed properly for Dual Channel as well, one in the A1 Dim and the other in the B1 Dim so that isn't the problem /:

I'm just stumped, maybe some of you could help of bring up something that I have yet to try o.O

Thanks in advanced :D

I've included a picture of the PC just to give you guys a visual representation of it I guess o.O

I know in the picture the RAM is in both A1 and A2 Dims I've changed that already so disregard that lol

They've been worsening the performance with each update since the release.

Are you using overclocked RAM on your i5? BF would gain tremendously from faster RAM.

what about with MORE RAM, will that increase performance or just FASTER RAM?

That's overclocked RAM. Does you board support the speed or is it locked at 2133/2400MHz?

BF1 likes to use 8GB.

Nah man, it's not because I have another PC with 16GB of RAM DDR4 2400Mhz, an i7 6700k and I've used this exact same GPU and it easily runs better than this, like a shit ton better /:

Well, I'm not playing at 4k i'm certain about that and yes I checked the resolution scale slider and that's set to 100% and the settings were set to ultra, some on medium and high by Geforce Experience so then I lowered the settings to the Medium Preset and it got better but there is still some slight stuttering that is quite annoying when playing.

Maybe its something with Gsync.

well, I the monitor doesn't support GSync /:

See, that's what I mean, I'm completely stumped o.O

I used to have an i5 6500 like a little over a year ago with this very same GPU and it was running well, then I sold it and got the i7, then I built another PC recently with this i5 7500 and it's performing worse than the 6500 so yeah lol
IDK what's going lol

that's alright, so I went into Bios and noticed that my RAM was running at 2133Mhz for some reason but I've bumped up to 2400Mhz since that's the highest the MOBO will support with a 7th GEN CPU and we shall see if that helps, I also changed some setting that I think only ASUS uses, it basically makes the PC run either in a "normal, Power Saver or PERFORMANCE" state so I put that on PERFORMANCE :D

I'm going to test it out once again after I download BF1 again o.O

yeah lol, I got mad and uninstalled lol, now I must wait another 1.5hrs /:

Have you ever seen bf1.exe actually using 8 GB by itself? I normally see around 9–10 GB in use for my system in total when I play Battlefield 1, and that includes Windows and whatever background applications I'm using at the time.

Talking about the program itself. I usually see 7.xGB for BF1.

It's running a lot more smoothly, I no longer get the stuttering that I was getting and I'm at a steady 90fps Average :D

I've honestlyNever seen BF1 use that much RAM, all I have is 2x4GB o.O

either way, I just bumped up the RAM to 2400 and put the ASUS MOBO settings to "performance" since it was on "normal" whatever that means and well, it's working just fine now.

I'm no longer getting stuttering and I'm staying at around 90fps on average on ultra/medium settings, would be all ultra but mesh and effects quality just kills my GPU /:

either way it looks great :D
