Amazon Echo Dot - Worth it?

Currently the echo dot is a good price right now on Amazon, and I was curious to know whether you guys who have one, use it? And if so, what for, and how often? Thank you!

It doesn't send every word to the cloud. That statement is yet to be proven. It is always listening, but only sends data that is recorded after saying "Alexa". It's called on-device keyword spotting.

If they aren't profiting from sales, why even make the product?

As I said, I'm really not that bothered about them collecting data. I can totally understand why others would be, but I'm fine with it.
