Microphone recommendation

I am in need of a different microphone.

Know the use case though: I currently use the rode podcaster and I use it for streaming. Don't get me wrong, the quality is great when at 90% volume and it's right in your face, but that's the issue, I don't want it in my face. In the same sentence though, I don't want it picking up my keyboard. When I have it at 100 in windows, I have to keep it further away and then it picks up my keyboard. Couple of questions:

1. Recommendation for distance from face and volume

2. If you recommend changing, what do you recommend changing to?

Keep in mind, I have 2 dogs that bork quite a bit. When I had my rode nt USB (podcaster is dynamic, not USB is condensor), it would pick up my dogs easily. Keep in mind that I've moved houses and am now in a different room.

Please note I want xlr, not usb

I was looking at:

Rode procaster (xlr version of the podcaster)

Rode nt 1

I don't however want recommendations for anything from blue microphones or razer, those comments will be ignored.

Microphone test can be found on my vods on twitch: twitch.tv/prodexce

I find myself having quite a loud background, but my AT2020 XLR doesn't really pick alot up.

I'm playing with Cherry MX Red's and usually play with window open next to a railroad.

So.. Look that one up? It's quite affordable too.

I think its bigger brother AT2035 is supposed to be better at vocals.

Here's me testing it:

(I know the rules of promoting own content on the forums but does this count? I'll gladly take it down if I'm violating anything)

Check em out!

Hey @jkeasley

I think you may be asking for the impossible to some degree.

The further from you the mic is the more sensitive it has to be. The more sensitive the more it will pick up the background noise you don't want.

Dog barking is going to be picked up pretty much by every mic, even like beamformed mics probably can't cancel out something that loud.

A lot of noise can be reduced by using a boom arm and changing around where it is positioned.

We're actually working on an XLR ModMic, but that wont be till next year most likely.
