Hey guys I went through a lot of YouTube videos and forum posts, I just want you guys to confirm if this is good combination or not. So, I will take my disks and GPU from my current FX build and go for:

Ryzen 1700

Asus Crosshair Hero VI

G.Skill DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3200 CL14 16GTZR tri (RGB)

NZXT Kraken X52 240mm

Seasonic Prime 650W 80+ Platinum

In Win 805C Red

MSI RX480 Gaming X 8GB

Intel 530 SSD 180GB

2x1TB WD HDD

Without the last 3 items, I can get the parts for €1.090 with shipping in Ireland via Amazon.de

Would this make sense and what do you suggest I should do?

PS: I was thinking going for a "safe" OC of around 3.8Ghz

That motherboard is expensive (here at least), so I'd opt for something cheaper with B350 chipset (unless you really want extra USB ports).

You don't really need an AIO since Ryzen chips top at 4GHz without LN2. Just the stock cooler is good enough for overclocked Ryzen 7, though something larger like an cm 212 evo or cryorig h7 will do for more quiet cooling.

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

Model: HP Omen 17 17-an110ca CPU: i7-8750H (0.125V core & cache, 50mV SA undervolt) GPU: GTX 1060 6GB Mobile (+80/+450, 1650MHz~1750MHz 0.78V~0.85V) RAM: 8+8GB DDR4-2400 18-17-17-39 2T Storage: HP EX920 1TB PCIe x4 M.2 SSD + Crucial MX500 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD, 128GB Toshiba PCIe x2 M.2 SSD (KBG30ZMV128G) gone cooking externally, 1TB Seagate 7200RPM 2.5" HDD (ST1000LM049-2GH172) left outside Monitor: 1080p 126Hz IPS G-sync

Desktop benching:

Cinebench R15 Single thread:168 Multi-thread: 833

If you don't plan on multi-GPU down the line, consider a B350 motherboard, that AIO would need an AM4 bracket though. If you do get a different motherboard and want to use an AIO and don't want to have to use the stock cooler while you wait for brackets then consider a corsair Coolit OEM based AIO which is compatible out of the box. The stock cooler is pretty good though, I was able to get 3.8GHz on my R7 1700 with it.

Don't plan your overclock before you are familiar with the processor. For all you know you might get a golden chip that easily reaches 4.0 without any hassle, or you might be really unlucky and be best off at 3.7Ghz.

Thanks for the feedback.

Well I do plan to make this a "future-proof" rig, where I would opt to go for a SLI configuration, so that is why I choose the motherboard.

The other reason is that I do have a lot of USB devices that I use for music production (audiointerface+other usb powered equipment).

The price I can get it for is €201.67 so I think it's a good opportunity.

Regarding the OC, yeah I will see what I get when I get it - will post results :)

Otherwise, the RAM and other components seem alright?

SLI is not as good a single high performance card. I'd recommend selling your current GPU for a single high-end one when you upgrade.

The PSU is fine at the current state. SLI might require a more powerful one.

About the case, make sure your cooler isn't taller than 150mm. The case only has 156mm clearance.

RAM seems good. Maybe it's not the cheapest one with this spec, but it's fine.

I agree on with the SLI, I was thinking an SLI with the high end GPU's.

But that would be next year, probably a dual 1080 setup...I just wan't to have the option.

As far as the case goes, should be no problem with the Kraken X52 - or did I miss something? :/

It shouldn't, but just make sure that you know it since most ATX cases get more than 160mm. Some parts that work with the majority of ATX cases might not work with yours.
