Hello everyone.

Last year I put together my own pc (https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/bestelkosten/1080541) which cost me around 1600 euro on parts without the peripherals. Now I want to build a new pc for my friend but this one has to be a gaming pc. Right now we have selected the following parts: (https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/bestelkosten/1356865. I know the website is in Dutch so I will try to find another site where I can select the parts and link here.) Link to PcPartPicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9Gf2Cy.

Right now it's around 785 euro and can go max to 850 euro. Is the select setup any good or are there parts that I should replace with other parts?

The goal is to build a budget gaming pc around 850 euro that can run 1080p at about 60 Hz.

Wait a bit. GPU prices have skyrocketed due to bitcoin mining.

In the current climate with GPU prices that build is actually pretty good. All I might change is a better PSU and adding a 1TB HDD along side the SSD. Put windows and essential apps/games on the SSD then use the HDD for mass storage.

Europe isn't hit as badly. 260 for a 1060 isn't that bad that's like a €40 increase. Personally I wouldn't delay my build for such a small amount.

Which power supply would you recommend? On my build I have the EVGA SuperNova 750 G2. Would a PSU similar to this one be ok?

As much as I like Ryzen sacrificing the 1060 for a 570 isn't the best choice.

Why would one choose to go for and AMD based system compared to Intel and Nvidia?

Cause AMD's Ryzen 5 destroyed value of i5 and AMD's gpu technologies are open source which allows a massive support in games but you can go NVIDIA if you want.

True against an i5. However the G4560 can't be beat at that price. We will be waiting on Ryzen 3 for that.

get this(change motherboard and GPU brand based on price) and if its too expensive then drop the CPU down to at the lowest a R5 1400. if you can, get an RX 580 over then 1060 but they are quite a bit more expensive in most places because of the mining craze so they arent really worth it.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

So, to summarize a little. I underlined the questions that I still have.

  • Get the GTX 1060 GPU (I can get this one for 265 euro) and G4560 CPU because it's a good value right now.
  • Motherboard, has to be compatible with the GPU and CPU. Are there any other things that I should look out for when I would go for a different (cheaper) one?
  • Power supply, a tier 1-3 from the provided link by @tom_w141 Will choose the cheapest (best value) one at the time of buying. Will probably choose a tier 2.
  • For storage I'll stick with the 250 GB Samsung and will probably add a 1-2 TB of HDD. Anything that I have to look out for like 7200 RPM?
  • Lastly the memory. Right now I have the Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3000 but prices are going up. Does brand matter here or can I choose cheaper memory?

Mining is beginning to get harder so hold on and be hopeful for a price drop or the flooding of the used market.

Features. Check it has enough usb slots for your needs, wifi? etc. Lastly form factor, this depends on your case Atx, mAtx, or mItx.

yep any of the required wattage from that list tiers 1-3 will do.

Decent brand like WD/Seagate and yes 7200 rpm.

Brand doesn't matter. Any DDR4 will work.

@tom_w141, thank you very much for your support but I hit a roadblock.

The GPU I try to order has an undetermined delivery date. Now, I found one for 304 euro's. Is it still worth to buy it at that price or is there a better alternative?

Link? that's a bit steep for a 1060 imo. I would suggest patience or a used 980Ti.

980Ti = ~ 1070 performance
