Ok so I'm running a gtx 970 4 gig i3 4170 duelcore 3.70 ghz processor and 6 gigs of ddr3 1600mhz ram I'm not gunna be able to upgrade my computer for another few months I'm thinking about slapping an 8 gig stick of ram in this just for the reasoning that every time I play ark my computer is severely bottlenecks and crashes would throwing some quick ram in make a huge difference or none at all

throwing more ram at it won't make it magically go faster, i think that your problem is the CPU which is pretty weak for heavy gaming.. save a bit and get atleast an i5.
you might be able to score a i5 or i7 cheaply on the used market, just make sure it's the same socket and that it works

Have you tried to perform a sudden temporary interrupt of the electricity flow to your computational device followed by a re-initialization procedure of the central processing unit and associated components?
