Hi,

I'm wanting to build a rig with the focus on gaming. I have about £1800 to play with and was looking for some info on what options people would go for.

I'm aiming for something that can run high settings on 2560-1440 monitor. I don't need keyboards/mouse/headset etc, already got them just mostly the rig spec options best for gaming.

I would rather recommend a 7600k or 7700k if your focus is only on gaming , if you looking into content creations than 1700 is the bang for bucks and get a z270 motherboard to take advantage of the unlocked processor (if going for Intel )

because if i did that then bias comes in and OP could pick either company because they like them more instead of whichever works better for his uses.
