Connect the HDD to the 3.0, since it'll benefit from the speed, and likely uses the most power. Then use the 2.0 for the mouse/cooling pad. Or get a powered USB 3.0 hub from Amazon and keep them plugged into that. Then you just set your laptop on the desk, plug in the one USB 3.0, and you're good to go.

Hi, well for lack of time i'll keep it simple, when I connect a backlit gaming mouse and then a cooling pad and hard drive combo, nothing happens, but when i connect the cooling pad and hard drive first and then the mouse, it doesn't turn on, it should be noted that the cooling pad/ext. hard drive are conected to a single usb 2.0 and the mouse to a 3.0
