Dual Monitors

So I have a r9 280 OC. The video card only has an HDMI spot and no vga slot. I have two monitors, one is a VGA and the other is an HDMI. How do I do dual monitor set up? I plugged the VGA secondary monitor into the motherboard VGA hookup and I plugged the MaIN MONITOR INTO THE graphics card, I enable extended view in settings and both monitors are being shown but no image shows up on the second monitor?

I could be wrong but I believe you can't mix motherboard and GPU graphics. Your best bet is to just buy an adapter off of Amazon or in your local store to go from whatever spare plug is on your GPU to VGA for your monitor.

The R9 280 should have 2 DVI one of which is capable of carrying an analog signal, just buy a DVI to VGA adapter so you can put it in your GPU. This one should work just fine.

depends on the system. i do run my main monitor off my 1050 ti and my second monitor off my iGPU and it works.

 

but there are mainboards that always disable the iGPU as soon as a graphics card is installed
