Multiple displays problem

Nationalist

I have a 15" laptop and a 27 inch monitor, which is connected to the laptop via HDMI.

I never use laptop's monitor, although it's an excellent IPS screen. However, every time I turn on the laptop, I have to setup the multiple display all over again!

Display-settings-->use only this monitor, so the laptop monitor is always turned off when the lid is down.

Why can't Windows 10 save these settings??

Interesting..., I haven't heard of this before. Could try a SFC scan just to make sure the OS is all good. It'll probably be something super simple though.

One random general thing, check your laptop manufacturer's website to see if you have the correct/up to date display drivers. They can really make a difference sometimes.

Welcome to Windows/wonky drivers. All I can really suggest is updating drivers. Whatever AMD drivers I'm on have this problem where if you change monitors (i.e. take your PC from your room out to the living room for a "LAN party) you have to boot it headless and then plug it in, wait for the device plugged in sound, unplug it, and plug it back in and THEN you're good.

I use their Lenovo Bridge software which scans and automatically updates everything including BIOS, so everything is updated.

However, when looking up under device manager -

So...that generic one is the laptop screen. But maybe this has nothing to do with why Windows won't save the multiple display setup.
