Hi, I built a computer for the first time a few months ago, and i had a few problems with it. Parts are: mobo: B250m d3h Gigabyte ; cpu: Pentium g4560 ;GPU:ASUS Radeon RX 470 8GB ROG STRIX  ;Ram : Crucial Ballistix 2x8gb 2400mhz ; PSU First: forton(FSP) hexa+ 400w, Later changed to EVGA 600w and my old case and hdd. I bought most parts from different sites.

Problem:

When i play most my games(WoW, Shadow of mordor, DOOM,) after like 30-40 mins(somtimes more, sometimes less) of playing it restarts(sometimes i just lose video and have to power down restarting dont work). Today i checked my event viewer and saw i have 2300 event - warrnings and errors. When my computer restarts i get Kernel-power Critical error, i also have lots of kernel pnp warnings and some other stuff(DNS Client Events warning; AppModel-Runtime error and some others). When i look at the dates i see i had A LOT of Kernel pnp warnings but the kernel-power errors began when i bought my gpu(i think i had only 1 before that). I downloaded msi Afterburner to see my temp - it doesn't overheat so that's not the problem. I don't think it is the PSU i changed it and i think the old one and the new one are ok. I tried plugging in different outlets to see if it can be from that but its the same house so idk.

So my questions are this: can this be a software problem, is it possible that the problem comes from my gpu or ram or even HDD(i had the update problem with it) or is it as i suspect all from the mobo or cpu, because they already had a problem. I don't have any friends with good computers in my town to try and swap parts to see what is the problem and i don't trust any of the places i can have it checked out(they didnt know what psu to offer me when i asked for 8 pin for gpu) i can only send diferent parts trough mail back because i have warranty but i don't know which is the broken one.If i don't play games the computer runs without problems and I'm reluctant to send the mobo and cpu back again before im a bit more sure they are the problem, because its a difficult problem to test - it sometimes crashes after 40 min of playing - and i don't want them to return it saying its my PSU or GPU

Some backstory:

First of all when i bought the cpu, mobo and ram i tried to assemble them (with my old gpu(radeon hd 4850)and my old cheap psu) but for some reason it powered up for a few seconds and then restarted and this repeated until i force stop it without it ever getting to bios or even showing picture, no beeps either and i tried some stuff nothing worked(changed psu, restarted mos etc) , so i mailed the Cpu and Mobo back to the place i bought them from. They returned them in a few days and the computer booted well(they didn't provide any info as to what the problem was). When installing Windows i had a problem again, when i updated all my drivers(first time from disk that came with mobo, later trough Driver Booster) it couldn't go in windows anymore so i reinstalled it a few times and came to the conclusion that if i don't update the "Standard SATA AHCI Controller" all is well. So i used the computer like that for like a month and then i got some money and bought a GPU (RX 470). Turns out the 8gb version needed 8 pin power connector and my cheap psu only had a 6 pin so I bought the FSP 400w PSU (because i didn't have money for anything more powerfull that my local computer shop had) and according to my sh*t calculations it should have been enough(i still think it was). Soo the computer ran well, i installed some games and tried them out (Witcher 3, GTA V, DOOM, Shadow of mordor) some days later I was playing DOOM and suddenly it restarted. I observed that it restarted only at some levels so I thought that when i play more intensive levels the PSU cant give me enough power. So i stoped playing Doom while i didnt have money for new PSU and started playing GTA V. A week later i managed to return my PSU and get the EVGA 600w. No problems tried DOOM got past the level i always crashed but continued to mainly play GTAV which didnt have the Powerout problem. Later on I played some Shadow of mordor and it crashed again. Then it started crashing more frequently, now it crashes even when i play WoW and GTA V(still it crashes rarely and after longer) which ran well before.

P.S. sorry if you dont understand some things English is not my native language .

I would say it's the GPU that's giving you problems.

Your first ever power cycles are common. It's the bios setting itself up first time. So I wouldn't suspect that, for now anyway.

The sata drivers are not needed. Back in the days with the old bios maybe, but not with UEFI. Sata is hardware controlled and Windows doesn't need to interact with it.

I would use afterburner to downclock the GPU. It's difficult to test a GPU when you don't have another system.

However I was in the same situation as you, same symptoms. Fixed it with an RMA.

However if you do RMA it then tell them it doesn't work while gaming.

However before RMA'ing run furmark on it. See if it works. Mine worked if it was idle, or 100 load. in between those values is when it crashed.

It's not a race to the bottom.

I had to go out of town so i can try and downclock it tomorrow to see if anything happens but i've run furmark before for like an hour and i had no problems.

P.S. : It would really suck if the GPU is the problem i found it at a good price brand new and now because of the bitminers there are no cards at that price range and i dont know if they can replace it.
