I want to start this off from where I came from with a prior machine, I used to have a i5-3570K with 16 gigs of DDR3 memory and a R9 280x video card, due to some issue with my video card I no longer have it and now on a older Nvidia 550ti card.

My new rig consists of a AMD 1800X with 16gigs of DDR4 2400mhz memory and the before mentioned 550ti.

I want to build my computer around doing gaming, 3D modeling, 3D animation, and game creation. Obvious choices of programs are Blender, Sculptris and for game engines will be Unity and CryEngine.

So, what I am looking for is obviously not staying with the memory choice that I have it was something to get to get by, so, new memory up to 64 gigs and video card(s) I should invest into.

I want to run a 3 monitor setup each at 2560x1440 resolution for the projects I will be on.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

So this is what you already have? I'm not sure you'll ever need more than 32GB of RAM but suit yourself! :)

It sounds like all you need is a new GPU, and maybe an SSD if you don't already have one.

You'll probably be looking at a GTX 1080ti to match the rest of your system.

I edit my posts a lot.

Yeah I was leaning towards 1080ti since it will be a while till we see the RX version of Vega and how it stacks up in gaming, though I am unsure if I should hold my breath for it.

The Frontier edition didn't manage to beat the 1080. Even though gaming versions should be better at games than frontier edition, don't expect it to be anywhere near the 1080ti unless some Vega X2 comes out. If you are aiming for a 1080ti, buy it now. Its price might actually go up since people who look for Vega beating 1080ti gets disappointed and go for 1080ti.

there's no reason why you WOULD need more than 16, Unless you're doing video editing, running a VM, playing a game and have a 3d modeling program up all at the same time

Mmm.. more like youtube/tutorials on one screen Blender on another and a paint program or game engine on another screen.
