So I have recently been having some fps drops while playing csgo and then I turned on gpu usage monitoring and my gpu will randomly go from around 85% to around 55 to 60% is this the cause of my drops or is this normal?

What is your computer specifications?

  •  What cpu and gpu do you have? <== Most important
  •  What psu and how old? <== Probably less important.

What is your resolution and refresh rate of your monitor?

I have gtx 960 and i5 4460. But I don't think it was my gpu because I was on 1920x1080 but when I took a picture of my cpu usage on afterburner, it looks like this when I went back to 1024x768. https://gyazo.com/d49ec7947ad644cc9aa4a59674e02ab1

Looks fine I suppose. Just check temps and ram speed to rule out some basic stuff.

Best way to fix drops is to be less clumsy :P

Lol jk. Spikes like that are usually a background program.... if the game is really cpu dependant I guess bursts of effects would also cause big drops as well. Some games also have bad areas in maps, from the pc port, when ur gpu usage drops but ur fps is low it can mean the game cannot utilixe any more of ur gpu power.

If I play csgo for about 30 mins with msi afterburner running, and I take a screenshot of gpu usage, cpu usage, core clock, etc. Do you think you could help me out on seeing if those things would be causing me fps drops?

Wait actually I was playing csgo and I was playing 1024x768 all low and then I switched to 1920x1080 on all high and I was getting about the same fps?

Sounds like faster ram to keep up with the processor might help. What ram do you have now with which cpu?

I feel like it sounds fine. DDR3 ram has less problems with speed that I can remember. Just make sure that the processor and ram is running at its intended speeds.

Any programs that I can test both of the speeds with?

Cpu z or task manager can tell you the ram speed. Cpu Z can also tell you the cpu speed but not if it is at default settings or not. Task manager can also tell you processor speed but I am not sure how reliable it is.
