So I got a surface pro 3 recently and every now and then I play games on it and noticed a dip in performance over time so I did some testing, the CPU I have is an i5-4300U and is rated for 1.9Ghz but it usually runs at 2.5Ghz when running basic tasks. After testing I saw that with my case in which is insulated in the back with soft padding it got down to 1.5Ghz  and as low as 1.3Ghz where as with the case off it got to 1.75Ghz but in both cases the clocks started to go back up over time. Do you think that my soft leather case will have a drastic effect with temps? I see the cooling for the system looks to go all the way around the top part of the chassis and the case does partially block some of it as well on top of the back being slightly insulated. What do you guys think?

I have a surface pro 3 and it runs fine without a case, not tried it with a case but they passively cool along with using the fan for the cpu so by adding a case you are causing a thermal bottleneck as it cannot dissipate some of its heat as efficiently.

Thanks for the info, I took the case off and it seems the game is running fine, Looks like I will be running caseless

the surfaces we have at work sound like a jet engine either way :P

Yeah it does get a little loud under load, that is if you get close to it.
