what do you mean by active ? Because most of the time my 6800K don't gives a shit about what i do.

Unless i am playing MEA or doing video encoding , most threads of the cpu are sleeping.

My friend just bought this cpu and not all of his cores are active neither are his threads he only has 3 cores that are active

There are a few things your friend can try / check.

Within the Windows 10 Operating System itself

  • Navigate to the 'System Configuration' settings
  • Click on the "Boot" tab, and click on the "Advanced options..." button
  • Make the the "Number of processors" box is unchecked

Within the motherboard UEFI BIOS

* Keep in mind, BIOS menus will vary between manufacturers and motherboard models.

** The pictures are from my ASUS X99 Deluxe II, paired with a i7-6800K

  • Navigate to the section where you can see the "Active Processor Cores" menu, and click on it
  • Make sure all 6 cores are set to "Enabled"
  • If all else fails, you can try the "Load Optimized Defaults" function
