I need it for gaming and running some VMs on

7700k doesn't suit this and you don't need a 7700k for gaming unless its a 144+Hz monitor. Also added a 1080Ti because it was within budget.

use a NVMe m.2 not a sata one you have ample budget. they don't go all the way to 1TB of storage in most cases but they are much faster.

What's your case? you probably don't need the extra fans if you're getting a new case. you could squeezze a 1080TI in this

If you're running VM's allot you might want to consider the extra flexibility of Ryzen 7.

Primary System

  • CPU
    Ryzen R6 5700X
  • Motherboard
    MSI B350M mortar arctic
  • RAM
    32GB Corsair RGB 3600MT/s CAS18
  • GPU
    Zotac RTX 3070 OC
  • Case
    kind of a mess
  • Storage
    WD black NVMe SSD 500GB & 1TB samsung Sata ssd & x 1TB WD blue & x 3TB Seagate
  • PSU
    corsair RM750X white
  • Display(s)
    1440p 21:9 100Hz

See above ;) Didn't include an NVMe SSD as they aren't worth it tbh. You don't see the gains in applications or on boot. The only time you see the massive speed is file transfers and if you only have 1 drive that's irrelevant. I noticed that was a sata m.2 which is why I put the Samsung 2.5" in my build, nothing wrong with a quality 2.5" SSD.

yeah i was typing before you posted. they aren't much more expensive anymore though so it makes for a good drive when we'll get 10G network eventually *finger's crossed*. it's the kind of thing i carry along in builds. but i'm really not stating sata SSD's are bad in a build comparatively.

Thanks that was so helpful only one question please: What CPU cooler do you recommend or I shall stick with the one in my build?
