Ddr3 vs ddr4

I am new to this whole tech world and so you can call me a noob but I am trying to put some more RAM on my laptop and I cannot figure out if that's possible or not I have a acer aspire v3 572p and I don't know where to find out if my laptop is a ddr3 or ddr4? If anyone can help me out that would be great I was told this is a helpful site ! Thx

Look on your RAM stick, it should say whether it's PC2, PC3 or DDR3/4L or something.

DDR3L for that laptop.

 

Remember to get SO-DIMM though, otherwise it won't fit.

So I need to get that for the ram ? And it is a ddr3l ? I'm trying to run battlegrounds on my laptop and it's not doing so hot so I was gonna add more ram so it will get better bc rn I have 7.92gb and it said I have 2 slots to put in more is this all possible ?

Just find the numbers on your RAM, should be DDR3L-something or other, then plug those into Newegg or Amazon. It should pull up a bunch of results, then pick a set of SO-DIMM RAM that is the same speed as your current RAM, and order it.

oh shit i never even put 2 and 2 together on that one, after all these years haha. so PC1, PC2, PC3 and PC4 are DDR DDR2 DDR3 and DDR4 respectively >?

ive seen it on sticks of RAM for years and never realised what it meant lol, is it definitely not printed somewhere on the sticker ?

lol yeah I'm not about to take my laptop apart without knowing what I'm doing so is there another way without seeing the ram card

Yeah, I just plug the numbers in an see what the site spits out, then get that. In theory. Though my dad has a ton of laptop RAM lying around, so I generally just look for a stick that matches the one already on the laptop.

Shouldn't need to take it apart, there should be a door for upgrading the RAM.

Adding more ram won't make the game run better. Unless youre using all your ram currently.

 

Looking at the specs for that laptop it doesnt even have a GPU, just the iGPU, so games will never run well on it.
