Hello!

So I had the possibility to get my current monitor not only cheap but also for my birthday. As it is a 144hz 1440p monitor, a powerful GPU is requiered. I own a R9 390 and it does the job in most games at very playable framerates.

But my GPU is from AMD and the monitor has G-Sync. In addition to that, my 144hz capable monitor isn't used to its full potential.

So I was wondering, now that I saved up about 900€, which GPU from Nvidia i should buy to upgrade my system. At first I was thinking of a GTX 1080, but as the GTX 1080ti launched and as I saw that it gave much better and more consitant performance of 2560x1440 at 144hz.

So I`d like to ask for your guys' opinion wether I should buy a gtx 1080 or ti and which. Rest of my system can be found on my profile.

1080ti. Any brand should be ok as you are able to OC it yourself.

IMO, buy the best that you can afford. You probably wont be happy unless you do. That, and you probably will be able to play games at settings you like, for longer. If you can afford the gtx 1080Ti, buy it. If you only have 1080 money, try finding a good O.C. variant.

If you want 144fps at 1440p your options are the 1080ti, the 1080ti, and only the 1080ti. Any of the brands are fine, I am personally into EVGA as I have had good customer service experiences with them anecdotally. The watercooled hybrid cards seem good too, but probably don't actually help with performance or overclocking.

TL;DR: Get the 1080ti, all of the cards perform essentially the same.
