RAM compatibility

so my friend is selling some RAM and I'm thinking of buying it

Probably would work, however, each SKU of RAM runs at different speeds and one would likely configure automatically to be the same speed as the other, meaning it would be slower.

Oops, I thought I had put latency because I the speeds are both 3000mhz but the CAS Latency is 15 vs 14 / the timings

Your RAM has a lower CAS latency so it would be the one being downgraded. Lower = Better for latencies. It wouldn't be a huge deal though if you still wanted the RAM.
